Concept: Catalyzing Men In Women’s Sports

Summary: Men in women’s sports want to do more. Based on the stakeholder activism practices we’ve executed before to change the ways money and power flow in women’s health, we are getting men into intentional formation to REALLY SHOW UP in women’s sports.

Who:

  • Men in(vested) in women’s sports 💸

  • Men in(novating) in women’s sports 💡

  • Men in(fluencing) in women’s sports 🗣️

  • Men in(terested) in women’s sports 👀

Why: The biggest threats to women’s sports are sexism, homophobia, and misogyny/noir*. Men with access to privilege, power, and many forms of social, cultural and financial capital are coming together to catalyze change. This group will endeavor to collect resources to ensure a thriving women’s sports ecosystem, listening to and centering the needs of women in sports.

*Misogyny is the enforcement arm of the patriarchy. Misogynoir is where this intersects with white supremacy and racist systems for Black women. There are also loud men and women attempting to paint trans athletes as the biggest threat to women’s sports, which is not true. At the same time no one has all the answers to the complexities of this moment or the future, but it’s on our generation of sports and entertainment leaders to innovate accordingly.

First next steps:

We already have over 100 male-identifying hand-raisers in the ecosystem - across brands, teams, leagues, media (biz and editorial). We can get compelling asks to state and federal government leaders, notable celebrities, and other influentials across business, government, and philanthropy.

2024-2025 Focus:

  • Ensuring we do no harm by listening to and centering concrete needs of women in sports

  • Talking to investors and seeding activation ideas to determine WHAT men are willing to do

  • Mapping networks to build a powerful Founding Council of sports leaders, innovators, and investors to steer strategy and direction

  • Determining short term and long term priorities, and a sustainable model
